A second sunrise crowns the Thames. Sun Deux grafts Hiroshima’s atomic dawn onto London’s financial skyline, collapsing distance and time. An immense orange disc floods the scene with both promise and dread, while a single line of text records an irreversible moment: The sun rose twice in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, but for 200,000 souls, it never set again.

The juxtaposition of corporate glass and scorched chroma forces a reckoning between prosperity and its hidden costs. Digital abrasions and hand-scuffed varnish distress the façade, exposing fragility beneath metropolitan sheen.

As part of Signal Three, this work questions collective memory: how do we rebuild atop erasure? By reframing catastrophe inside a symbol of global capital, Sun Deux reminds viewers that progress and oblivion share the same horizon.
