From above, Soho’s zebra crossing becomes a syncopated score. Stride Passage interlaces asphalt stripes with blocks of saffron and vermilion, turning traffic flow into sheet-music for the street. Yellow and turquoise cabs glide across the pattern like notes, while pedestrians scatter in improvised counterpoint.
The angled viewpoint tilts perception, converting everyday choreography into graphic rhythm. Dash lines become downbeats; double-yellows frame the stave. Each step, horn and tyre squeal is implied in colour alone.
As part of Foundation Seven, this work explores the secret tempo of the city: how movement renders pattern, and pattern dictates movement. Stride Passage invites viewers to hear London without sound—reading its rhythm in chromatic blocks and monochrome stripes.
