Magnetic Magazine Feature: How Mixing Vinyl Helped Me Through Dark Times

Recently I sat down with Magnetic Magazine to share the story behind The White Collar Project and how mixing vinyl became a lifeline during some of my darkest days.In the interview, I talked about stepping away from music for years due to business and personal struggles, only to find my way back through a crate of records and two turntables. Those private mixing sessions kept me grounded when words fell short, and when I started uploading the raw, unpolished sets, they resonated with listeners around the world. The White Collar Project community has since grown into more than 160,000 subscribers, built on honesty, nostalgia and authenticity.

We also explored how playing vinyl demands presence and emotional connection; you rely on your ears and hands rather than a screen. That tactile experience is part of what makes vinyl so powerful for me, even when I occasionally incorporate CDJs to layer vocals. The project now spans music, fashion, and art, reflecting my belief that all creative mediums share the same goal—eliciting feeling.

Perhaps the most meaningful part of the conversation was discussing mental health. Messages from listeners telling me how the music helped them through tough nights reminded me why I keep showing up. We agreed that the guiding principle of The White Collar Project is simple: be human, be honest, and keep moving. For anyone feeling lost or disconnected, I hope this story reminds you that you don’t need perfection to create something meaningful.
